That cafe-style pita bread you like is easier to make at home than it appears to be. With just a few basic ingredients, you can make perfect pockets to use as wraps, sandwiches, or to pair with dips that feel fresh, warm, and much better than store-bought.
2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp dry yeast 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1 tbsp olive oil ¾ cup warm water
In a bowl, mix sugar and yeast with some warm water. Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes until it appears to be frothy, showing that the yeast is active and ready to use.
To the yeast mixture, add flour, salt, and olive oil and mix everything to knead a soft, smooth dough.
Cover the dough and keep it to rest in a warm place for about an hour, or until you see that it has doubled in size and feels soft.
Now, divide the prepared dough into equal balls and flatten each of them into round discs with the help of a rolling pin.
Heat the pan or oven, whatever you are using and cook each pita for a few minutes. Flip it once in mid way, until it puffs up and appears like a pocket.
Remove from the heat and cover the prepared pita with a cloth to keep it soft. Slice it with light hands to open the pocket and fill it with your favoured items, and enjoy it while still warm.
