Soft, pillowy pita bread made with simple ingredients, a hint of garlic and baked to perfection. This Middle Eastern staple is perfect for stuffing with falafel, kebabs, or hummus, making every meal light, fluffy, and deliciously wholesome.
2 cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp instant yeast 1 tsp salt ¾ cup warm water 6 cloves garlic, minced 1 tbsp olive oil
Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast, then let the mixture rest for 10 minutes until frothy.
Add flour, salt, and olive oil, then knead the mixture into a soft, smooth dough.
Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Divide into balls, roll into 6-inch circles, and cook in a hot pan or in an oven at 220°C until puffed.
When it’s 90% cooked scatter a teaspoon of minced garlic over each pita and continue cooking until the garlic is slightly toasted.
Wrap in a cloth to keep soft and serve warm with hummus, falafel, or shawarma.
