Christmas sugar cookies are a special part of the holiday season as they bring families together through simple baking traditions. Soft, sweet, and easy to decorate – they are a favourite treat for holidays, even for kids. Easily customisable shapes alongside various colours also make the cookies fun to make, keeping the holiday spirit nostalgic and familiar.
2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup powdered sugar 115 g softened butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 tablespoons milk A pinch of salt
Bring the butter to room temperature and measure out all the ingredients so the dough mixes well.
Beat the butter and sugar together until they are pale, then add the vanilla to give it a clean taste.
To make a soft dough, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, then fold this into the butter mixture.
Let the dough chill for at least 30 minutes to make sure the cuts are clean and the spreading is even.
Roll, cut, and bake at 170°C until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely before decorating.
