If there’s something as good a feeling as opening presents on a Christmas morning, it is sharing a meal with loved ones. While the excitement is palpable, there’s always room to include a few delicious bites at Christmas brunch that is reminiscent of the holiday spirit.
Put a festive spin to the breakfast classic by adding a splash of bourbon to the custard or garnishing the final plate with candied pecans and seasonal fruit.
Given the versatile foundation of oatmeal, take it a step further by including warm spices, dried fruit, granola and even some non-alcoholic eggnog in the mix.
A family-style savoury quiche can be filled with anything from bacon bits, garlicky spinach, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and even leftover chicken from the roast.
What’s so special about these sweet, indulgent treats is that they can be prepped and proofed ahead of time and stashed in the oven just before they’re ready to be eaten.
Christmas morning means that the family must spend time together in close quarters as opposed to be busy flipping omelettes—a frittata is the perfect fix.
Prepping bellies for holiday feasting doesn’t have to deprive one of complex carbohydrates, so save the roast potatoes for later and substitute it with sweet potato hashbrowns.
Portable breakfasts for a bunch of high-spirited folks? Sounds like hearty breakfast burritos are winning!
