A chocolate self-saucing pudding is a classic dessert in which a light, spongy chocolate cake layer rests on a rich, gooey chocolate sauce. Ideal for the cold winter nights. This warm and rich chocolate dessert is all about comfort with every single bite.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour 2.5 tsp baking powder 1/3 cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/4 cups boiled water Pinch of salt ½ cup milk 4 tbsp butter, melted 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla extract

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir everything to combine well.

Step 2

Take a separate mixing bowl and whisk together milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and beaten egg.

Step 3

Mix the dry and wet ingredients until a smooth batter forms. Next, spread the batter evenly in a baking dish.

Step 4

To prepare the sauce, mix the brown sugar and extra cocoa powder in a bowl, then sprinkle it evenly over the top of the batter.

Step 5

Using the back of a large spoon, carefully add boiling water across the surface of the batter.

Step 6

Bake the batter in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30-40 minutes. Let the pudding rest for a few minutes to ensure the chocolate sauce is thick. Serve them warm.
