Compared to the typical margarita, a chispa tastes more natural, which is an appealing attribute. The unique feature is that instead of sweet and sour mixtures, fruit liqueurs are added to the cocktail.
¾ cups of lime juice ½ cup orange liqueur 1-2 tbsp agave syrup 1 cup ice ½ cup tequila Lime or orange wheels, for garnish Sea salt, for rimming the glass
Rub a lime half along the side of your cocktail glasses. When the glass is wet, sprinkle coarse salt over it. Set the glasses aside to dry.
Fill a cocktail shaker with lime juice, orange liqueur, and agave syrup to taste.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila and ice. Place the cap on your shaker and firmly shake until it froths over.
Strain the chispa margarita mixture into rimmed cocktail glasses. Be careful not to splash any on the salt rim.
Garnish the glasses with aesthetically pleasing slices of lime and orange. Serve chispa rita for a summer sip!
