Chicken sukka is a traditional Mangalorean dish made with tender chicken cooked in aromatic spices, coconut, and curry leaves. Spicy, flavourful, and semi-dry, it pairs perfectly with neer dosa, chapati, or rice.
500 g chicken (with bone, cut into medium pieces) 2 tbsp oil 1 large sliced onion 1 chopped tomato 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp turmeric 2 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp garam masala ½ cup roasted and grated coconut Curry leaves and coriander for garnish
Heat oil, sauté onions till golden, then add ginger-garlic paste.
Add the chicken along with turmeric, red chilli powder, and salt, then cook until the pieces are well-coated and sealed.
Stir in chopped tomato and cook till soft.
Add roasted coconut and garam masala; cook till chicken is tender and dry.
Garnish with curry leaves and coriander, then serve hot alongside neer dosa, chapati, or rice.
