This restorative chicken broth is specifically crafted to soothe seasonal congestion, sore throats, and weather-change chills. Generously infused with crushed ginger, whole garlic cloves, black pepper, and turmeric, the warm clear broth delivers anti-inflammatory compounds while tender chicken provides clean protein. Light, aromatic, and deeply comforting, it is natural immunity in a bowl.

Ingredients

300g bone-in chicken pieces (cleansed) 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, julienned or crushed 8 to 10 garlic cloves, smashed 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper 1 small onion, chopped 1 stalk celery or 1 small carrot, chopped (optional) 5 cups water or light chicken stock 1 tablespoon ghee or sesame oil Salt to taste Fresh coriander and lemon juice for finishing

Step 1

Heat ghee in a deep pot or pressure cooker, add the crushed garlic, ginger juliennes, and chopped onions, sautéing on medium heat for two minutes until fragrant.

Step 2

Add the bone-in chicken pieces, turmeric powder, cracked black pepper, and salt, tossing for three minutes until the chicken turns pale on the outside.

Step 3

Pour in five cups of water, cover the pot (or pressure cook for three to four whistles), and simmer gently on low heat for twenty minutes to extract all the broth flavour from the chicken bones.

Step 4

Strain out heavy bones if desired (or leave whole), squeeze fresh lemon juice over the hot steaming soup, garnish with fresh coriander, and sip warm for immediate chest and throat relief.
