Hara chana, or green chickpeas, is a simple yet wholesome dish prepared as bhog during Chhath Puja. Lightly spiced and cooked in ghee, it offers a pure, earthy flavour that perfectly complements festive meals.
2 cups fresh green chickpeas (hara chana) 1 tbsp ghee or oil 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 green chilli (chopped) ½ tsp turmeric Salt to taste
Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds and chopped green chilli.
Add hara chana, turmeric, and salt, and stir well to coat evenly.
Sprinkle a little water, cover, and cook for about 10–12 minutes until tender.
Serve warm as prasad or with puris during the festive meal.
