Gujiya is the iconic sweet that’s widely made for Holi. If you want to make the traditional chashni gujiya at home, you can follow this step-by-step guide and enjoy it while playing with gulaal.
2 cups maida 1/4 cup ghee A pinch of salt Water as needed to knead the dough 1 cup khoya 1/2 cup powdered sugar 1/4 cup almonds 1/4 cup cashew nuts 1/4 cup raisins 1 teaspoon cardamom powder Oil for deep frying Sugar syrup for coating
Take a bowl and mix maida with salt. Gradually add ghee and water and knead a smooth dough.
Make the filling by roasting khoya and adding sugar and chopped dry fruits and nuts.
Take small portions of the dough, roll them into circles and place a spoonful of filling in the centre.
Fold the circle into moon-shaped gujiyas and seal the edges with a little water.
Heat some oil and deep fry the gujiyas in batches.
Prepare chashni by simmering sugar and water. Dip and coat the gujiya in the chashni and serve.
