Durga Puja calls for delicious treats, and the Kolkata-style mutton cutlet is a festive favourite. Make this crispy, flavourful snack at home to bring the taste of Kolkata’s street food right to your kitchen.
250 gm mutton keema 1 tsp Bengali garam masala 1 or 2 finely chopped green chillies 1 tsp ginger garlic paste 1 tsp chilli powder 1 tsp crushed black pepper 1 mashed potato 1 cup breadcrumbs 2 beaten eggs Salt as required Oil for frying
Put mutton mince and all ingredients, excluding eggs and breadcrumbs, in a bowl. Mix well.
Mash the mixture finely and shape it into diamonds or patties as preferred.
Spread breadcrumbs on a tray. Set aside for coating the cutlets. Heat oil in a pan. Ensure the oil is hot enough for frying.
Dip each cutlet in beaten eggs, roll in breadcrumbs, and fry in the hot oil.
Fry until golden brown. Remove and drain excess oil. Serve hot with sauce or kashundi.
