Bring Home The Flavours of Gujarat With This Classic Khichu Recipe

Khichu is a Gujarati snack that is delicious and quick to make. This dish is perfect to beat the evening hunger pangs or sudden cravings. Made of rice flour, this dish is healthy for the body. Khichu is one such recipe which requires zero oil during its preparation and thus can be added as a weight loss recipe if you want.

Ingredients

2 cups of water 1 teaspoon of green chilli paste 1 teaspoon of ginger paste 1 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of baking soda 2 tablespoons of coriander or cilantro leaves ½ cup of rice flour 1 tablespoon of sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds 1 garlic clove

Step 1

In a pan, heat water and bring it to a boil. Add salt, cumin seeds, ginger, and green chilli to the boiling water.

Step 2

Slowly add rice flour to the boiling water while continuously stirring to avoid lumps. Let the mixture thicken and form a dough-like consistency.

Step 3

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Grease your hands with oil and shape the dough into small round balls.

Step 4

Serve hot with a drizzle of oil and garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
