Bread chilla is a quick and healthy breakfast snack made by topping bread slices with spiced besan batter, pan-cooked to perfection. Click to know the step-by-step recipe.
4 bread slices (white or brown) ½ cup besan ¼ cup finely chopped onion 2 tbsp grated carrot 2 tbsp chopped tomato 1 finely chopped green chilli 1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves ¼ tsp turmeric powder ¼ tsp red chilli powder Salt to taste Water (as needed to make batter) Oil or ghee for toasting
In a bowl, mix besan, onion, tomato, carrot, green chilli, coriander, turmeric, red chilli powder, salt and add water gradually to make a medium thick batter.
Cut the bread slices in half or use them whole.
Spread the besan mixture evenly on one side of each bread slice.
Heat the non-stick tawa with some oil/ghee, place the bread batter side down and cook on a medium flame until golden, then flip.
Serve hot with green chutney, ketchup or curd.
