Banana Malpua is an Indian dessert that has ripe bananas, which are lightly sweetened. It is a traditional sweet perfect for festive occasions, or can be consumed as a delicious treat post meals.
For the Batter: 2 ripe bananas (mashed) 1 cup (maida) 2 tbsp semolina 1/2 cup milk 3-4 tbsp sugar 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 1/2 tsp fennel seeds (optional) For Frying: Ghee or oil: As needed For Garnish: 1 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios) Optional Sugar Syrup: 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup water A pinch of cardamom or saffron strands
Mash bananas in a bowl, add flour, semolina, sugar, cardamom powder, fennel seeds, and milk to make a smooth and then let it rest.
Heat ghee in a pan, pour a ladleful of batter to form small pancakes, and fry until golden brown on both sides.
Dip fried malpuas in warm sugar syrup for extra sweetness.
Garnish with chopped nuts and serve warm, either plain or with rabri.
