Baked murukku is a lighter version of the traditional South Indian snack that’s usually deep-fried. By baking instead, you retain the signature crunch and flavour but skip the extra oil, making it ideal for festive or guilt-free snacking.
2 cups rice flour ½ cup urad dal flour 1 tbsp sesame seeds 1 tbsp butter Salt to taste Water as needed
Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix rice flour, urad dal flour, sesame seeds, butter, and salt.
Add water gradually to form a smooth, soft dough, then shape spirals using a murukku press.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping once midway, until golden and crisp.
