Onion goat cheese puffs are a simple, delicious appetiser that's ideal for parties and holidays. As if the sweet, tangy, and sassy flavours weren't enough, you won't believe how simple it is to prepare this appetiser!
1 sheet of puff pastry, defrosted 3 red onions, sliced 1 tablespoon of brown sugar 100 grams of goat cheese 1 twig of fresh thyme leaves 25 grams of arugula, optional 1 egg, whisked Cookie cutter Oil as needed
Heat a pan or skillet with oil. Add the onions and cook them for 10-15 minutes.
Add the brown sugar. Sauté until the onions are translucent, then let the mixture caramelise.
Lay out the puff pastry sheet. Using a cookie cutter, carve out round shapes. Take a smaller cookie cutter and press it down on the centre. Do not cut it.
Prick a few holes in the centre with a fork. Fill inside with red caramelised onions.
Place them on a baking sheet. Cover with a baking paper. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
Sprinkle over the crumbled goat cheese. Add a few thyme leaves. Bake them for 15 minutes.
Take them out of the oven once they are golden. Add arugula if you want. Serve as an appetiser!
