Baisakhi, or Vaisakhi, a rich and colourful festival of Punjab, marks the New Year and the harvest season. To celebrate the grains in full bloom, why don’t you cook a delicious yellow-coloured dish?
Peele or meethe chawal is a traditional Punjabi dish that’s made in almost every Punjabi household on Baisakhi.
You can also make the rich besan (gram flour) curry with pakoras (fritters) and pair it with rice.
Makki ki roti is an all-time favourite of Punjabis. You can add some stuffing to it or pair it with saag to celebrate Baisakhi.
Keeping in mind the scorching heat, make a glass of yellow-coloured aam panna and keep yourself refreshed.
No Punjabi festival can be complete without a glass of lassi. To give it a summer and yellow touch, you can add freshly chopped mangoes.
Phirni is a timeless Punjabi dessert that is a vibrant yellow rice pudding served with a sprinkle of saffron and dry fruits.
