Tangy, spicy and filled with South Indian flavours, this is an easy-to-make chutney with tomatoes that perfectly complements dosa, idli, or rice, adding freshness to every bite.
3 chopped ripe tomatoes 1 chopped onion 2-3 dried red chillies 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp urad dal 1 tbsp sesame oil 2-3 garlic - cloves ¼ tsp asafoetida (hing) Salt to taste 2-3 curry leaves
Take some oil in a pan and saute mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies and garlic.
Add onions and cook until they turn translucent.
Add tomatoes, curry leaves, and salt and cook until they turn soft.
Leave the mixture to cool and then blend it to form a paste.
Heat oil, splutter mustard seeds, and pour it over the chutney for flavour.
Serve with dosa or idli!
