Authentic Phirni Recipe: Creamy North Indian Dessert Perfect For Sawan

Phirni is a traditional North Indian dessert prepared with ground rice, milk, sugar, and a generous amount of nuts. Here’s how to make a rich serving of phirni that’s perfect for indulging during the Sawan season.

Ingredients

1 litre of milk ¼ cup rice ½ cup sugar ½ teaspoon cardamom powder 10-12 saffron strands Chopped nuts for garnish

Step 1

Rinse the rice and soak it in water. Drain and grind the rice into a coarse paste.

Step 2

Bring the milk to a boil, reduce the heat, and keep stirring constantly.

Step 3

Cook on low heat till the milk thickens. Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands.

Step 4

Mix in some chopped nuts and transfer the phirni into bowls.

Step 5

Garnish with some more dry fruits, refrigerate, and serve chilled.
