Authentic Manga Pachadi Recipe: A Tamil New Year Special

Manga Pachadi is a delightful South Indian dish that perfectly balances sweet, tangy, and spicy flavours. Its different flavours represent different emotions of life – sweetness for happiness, tanginess for surprise, and a touch of bitterness for the challenges of life. Ingredients

1 chopped raw mango ½ cup jaggery ½ tsp red chilli powder ¼ tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp neem flowers ½ tsp mustard seeds Handful of curry leaves 1 tsp oil Salt to taste

Step 1

In a pan, boil chopped raw mango with water, turmeric, and salt until it softens.

Step 2

Add jaggery and cook until it dissolves and simmer until it thickens in consistency.

Step 3

Stir the red chilli powder and adjust the salt.

Step 4

Heat oil in a pan, temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and neem flowers, and add it to the pachadi.

Step 5

Serve it as a fresh and tangy side dish.
