As Bengal Makes Headlines, Celebrate Its Flavours With Homemade Jhalmuri

With the recent assembly elections, jhalmuri has once again appeared on every headline, and if that’s making you want to taste it, try this recipe!

Ingredients

30g muri or puffed rice 25g chanachur 15g plain bhujiya ¼ tsp black salt 15g boiled yellow peas 10g raw whole Bengal gram 2g green chillies ¼ tsp ginger 25g boiled potatoes 8g coconut ¼ tsp green chilli paste 5g mango pickle oil 3g mustard oil 15g onions 10g tomatoes 5g lime juice ½ tsp bhaja moshla

Step 1

Boil the potatoes, and dice them into cubes. Chop the onions, tomatoes, and coconut and keep aside.

Step 2

In a large bowl, add the muri. Add the bhujia and chanachur along with black salt and bhaja moshla. Give it a few mixes.

Step 3

Add boiled yellow peas, whole Bengal gram, green chillies and ginger.

Step 4

Add the boiled potatoes and the coconuts. Pour in the green chilli paste.

Step 5

Drizzle some mango pickle oil and raw mustard oil. Add raw onions and tomatoes, and squeeze in lemon juice. Give it a few good mixes and serve!
