An Easy Chocolate Mawa Barfi Recipe For Every Sweet Need

If there is a hallmark of Indian cuisine, it must be the Indian sweets that we know as mithais. Barfi is one of them. With many variations that have taken over the world, these chocolate mewa barfis are unique and fun to make!

Ingredients

1 ¾ cups of mawa or khoya 1 ½ cups powdered sugar 1 tsp cardamom powder 1 ½ tsp cocoa powder 2 tbsp melted ghee 5-7 chopped almonds 5-7 chopped pistachios 5-7 chopped cashews

Step 1

In a pan, add mawa. Stir few minutes on low flame. Once thick, add powdered sugar. Mix until the sugar melts.

Step 2

Step stirring for 3-4 mins. Add cardamom powder. Mix again. Turn off the flame.

Step 3

Pour this mawa into a greased tray. Let it set for 1 hour. In the same pan, more mawa.  Stir it for 1 min on low flame.

Step 4

Add cocoa powder and mix it properly. Add the powdered sugar again and stir it for 3 mins. Add cardamom powder. Mix well.

Step 5

Then turn off the flame. Pour this chocolate mixture over the mawa layer. Spread evenly.

Step 6

Garnish it with finely chopped dry fruits. Gently press them with a spoon. Let it set for 7-8 hours. Cut and serve!
