When summer afternoons feel slow and lazy, a glass of iced Americano can be a pick-me drink without having any extra richness. Crisp, bold and refreshing, it is one of the most effortless café-style drinks you can make at home.
2 espresso shots (about 60 ml) 180 ml cold water 1 cup ice cubes 1 tsp sugar or syrup (optional) 1 lemon slice (optional)
Keep your serving glass, in which you want to have the drink, in the fridge for a few minutes, as this will keep the drink sharper and more refreshing for a long time.
Take two fresh espresso shots or make the concentrated coffee. A strong coffee gives the Americano its classic, clean, bold summer taste.
To the chilled glass, add one cup of ice cubes to keep flavours crisp instead of diluting quickly.
Add the cold filtered water over the ice first to make the classic iced Americano base.
Now, pour in the espresso gently over the water and ice, and you will see how beautifully the layers of the drink blend naturally.
Stir the drink once, add sugar if desired, garnish with a lemon slice, optionally and enjoy while still icy cold.
