Add This Beetroot Raita To The Menu For Your Next Biryani Party

Beetroot raita is a healthy yoghurt-based side dish made with grated or boiled beetroot, tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chillies. Lightly spiced and slightly sweet, it pairs well with pulao, biryani, or rotis, adding a refreshing and nutritious touch to meals.

Ingredients

1 medium-sized beetroot 1 cup yoghurt 1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder 1 green chilli 1 tbsp fresh coriander leaves Salt A pinch of black salt 

Step 1

Wash the beetroot thoroughly and boil it in water until tender (or pressure cook for 2-3 whistles). Let it cool, then peel and grate the beetroot.

Step 2

Whisk the yogurt in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add the grated beetroot to the yoghurt.

Step 3

Mix in roasted cumin powder, green chilli, salt, and black salt. Stir well.

Step 4

Sprinkle with chopped coriander leaves for a fresh finish.

Step 5

Serve the beetroot raita chilled or at room temperature alongside rice, parathas, or as a refreshing side dish.
