South Indian upma is a lightweight but fulfilling breakfast loaded with vegetables. It is easy to prepare and can be packed for lunch. Pair it with peanut chutney, and you are good to go. Check out the recipe.
1.5 cups rava Salt to taste 1 tbsp oil ½ cup carrots, tomatoes ½ cup onion, capsicum 1 tsp chana dal 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 4-5 curry leaves ½ tsp red chilli powder Water as needed
Heat oil in a kadhai and saute mustard seeds, chana dal, and curry leaves.
Sauté onions, carrots, and capsicums. Once the onions have turned transparent, add the tomatoes.
Cook the vegetables with the remaining spices and salt.
Add rava to the kadhai and saute for a couple of minutes.
Pour water into the kadhai and cook until the blend thickens.
Garnish the upma with coriander leaves and serve it.
