Storing dry fruits is not rocket science, but still, many people don’t do it right and end up with a batch attacked by fungus and mould. Any perishable good needs to be stored the right way to increase its life span. Check out this guide.
Always store dry fruits in a cool and dark place. The ideal temperature for storage is 10°C-15°C. You can keep them in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator.
You can also freeze dry fruits and store them in heavy-duty containers. Freezing extends their life. When you want to use them, thaw them at room temperature.
When you are storing dry fruits, use moisture absorbents. It will prevent any build-up inside the containers and keep the ingredients fresh and free from mould.
To prevent the interaction of dry fruits with air and moisture, store them in a vacuum sealer. This method is perfect for keeping walnuts safe.
Many people keep dry fruits in the refrigerator, especially raisins, cashews, and almonds. You can use them for 6-12 months.
Use airtight containers to keep the dry fruits safe and prevent interaction with moisture and air. Use food-grade plastic containers for this.
Don’t store all the dry fruits in one container. Some are richer in moisture than others. Keep them in separate jars.
