Freezing meat is the only way to keep it fresh for a long time because it can get spoiled in no time. But there is a correct way to store meat. If you don’t follow simple tips, it will be ruined.
Keep a vacuum sealer handy when storing meat. Contact with the air can ruin the meat by causing freezer burn.
Purchase fine-quality meat and freeze it. If the quality is good, the freezer will keep it fresh for a long time. When you have to use it, thaw, and cook it.
Controlling the temperature of the freezer is also essential. It should be -18°C or below. Fluctuations might cause freezer burn.
Instead of original grocery packs, store the meat in a freezer-safe pack. You can double-wrap it for extra safety and prevent air from spoiling it.
Use a permanent marker to label the meat. Add the date and time of expiry so you don’t let it go to waste. It will prevent wastage.
Keep the meat in the refrigerator to thaw it. You can also add it to a bowl of fresh, cold water and cook it immediately.
Don’t store the entire meat as you bought it. Divide it into portions, double wrap it, remove excess air, and freeze the pieces.
