Do you often have to throw away cheese after using it for once? Well! You are storing it wrong. You can keep mozzarella cheese fresh until you have to use it the next time, and here is how you can do that.

Freeze

You can store an entire block of mozzarella cheese in the freezer, but this will alter the texture after thawing. The cheese will be more crumbly.

Plastic Wrap

To prevent it from spoilage, wrap a piece of mozzarella cheese in a plastic wrap. It will prevent the moisture from ruining the block and mould growth.

Put It In Brine

If you have recently purchased a fresh block of mozzarella cheese, transfer it to a container along with the original brine solution.

Airtight Jar

You can also store the cheese in an airtight container to prevent the moisture from ruining it or promoting the growth of mould.

Cold Water

Keep the block of cheese in cold water and cover the jar with an airtight lid. Make sure to replace the water every day.

Olive Oil

You can also store small balls of mozzarella cheese in olive oil. Add some basil and chilli flakes to infuse it with flavours. This will work for a few days or a week at max.
