Apples are now available in the market, and the task is to keep them fresh at home. Once you cut an apple, you are worried about it turning brown. Here is how you should store them to improve shelf life.
Individual wrapping of apples can increase the shelf life. Place the apples in a single layer in a container and refrigerate.
You can also keep the apples in the crisper drawer. The cool environment will slow down the ripening and keep them fresh for a long time.
Storing apples in a dark pantry can also be helpful for you. But check them regularly, and if you think the batch is going to go bad, use it to prepare something.
If you have apple slices, store them in acidic water to prevent oxidation. You can add lemon juice to the water before preserving the fruit.
Instead of storing apples, turn them into products like apple chutney, baked goods made with fruit, butter, and more.
If you are looking to store apples for 6-9 months, freeze them and store them in an airtight container. You can use them for baking or preparing desserts.
