Curry leaves can be the most functional herb in your pantry. You can buy it in bulk or you can even grow them yourself because it's quite low-maintenance. However, don't go wrong when it comes to storing curry leaves in your home. Here are some of the best ways to store these leaves.

The Refrigerator Method

Wrap the curry leaves in a paper towel or place them in a zip-lock bag. Store them in the refrigerator in the vegetable compartment. Make sure the leaves are completely dry before storing to prevent moisture buildup.

The Freezing  Method

Wash and dry the curry leaves and spread the leaves in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze them for a few hours until they are firm. Transfer the frozen leaves into a freezer-safe bag or container and store them in the freezer.

Vaccuum Sealing

Place the curry leaves in a vacuum-sealed bag or container. Use a vacuum sealer to remove the air from the bag or container, creating an airtight seal. Store the vacuum-sealed curry leaves in the refrigerator.

Drying Method

Wash the curry leaves and spread them out on a clean kitchen towel. Once dry, store the leaves in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Dried curry leaves can be crumbled and used as needed in cooking.

The Herb Keeping Method

Invest in a herb keeper or herb storage container with a water reservoir at the bottom. Place the curry leaves in the container and cover them with the lid. The water reservoir helps maintain humidity and keeps the leaves fresh for longer.

Preservation In Salt

Layer washed and dried curry leaves with kosher salt in a clean, dry jar. Continue layering until the jar is filled, so the leaves are completely covered with salt. Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool, dark place. The salt helps preserve the leaves and can be rinsed off.
