Parmesan cheese, the Italian staple used in most recipes like pasta, salad, or pizza, has a hard yet crumbly texture. To keep it fresh, here are some quick kitchen tips to extend its shelf life.
After opening the seal, store the Parmesan cheese in an airtight container or a ziplock bag.
Don’t wrap Parmesan in cling film for extended periods, as it can trap moisture and lead to mould growth.
With a slightly humid environment, the vegetable crisper is ideal for storing Parmesan cheese.
Since Parmesan can absorb strong odours, store it away from onion, garlic, etc.
To store for several months, grate Parmesan cheese, wrap it, and deep-freeze.
