5 Foods To Avoid That May Cause Constipation

When you have less than three bowel movements every seven days, you are likely suffering from constipation, a common health issue. There are a lot of foods that can either induce constipation or make it worse. If you want to be more regular, you should cut back on these items and make other dietary adjustments. 

Alcohol 

Because of its dehydrating effects, alcohol, particularly in excessive quantities, may raise the likelihood of constipation. The results may differ from one individual to another, and further research is required to draw firm conclusions. 

Gluten-containing foods 

Wheat, barley, rye, spelt, kamut, and triticale are some of the grains that contain proteins known as gluten. The use of gluten-containing foods has been associated with constipation in certain individuals. 

Processed grains 

When compared to whole grains, processed grains and their byproducts, including white rice, pasta, and bread, tend to be more constipated due to the lower fibre content. Also, some people find that cutting back on fibre aids with constipation. 

Red meat 

Consuming red meat may heighten the risk of constipation due to its high fat content and low fibre content. Allowing red meat in place of fiber-rich items in your diet might heighten the risk even further. 

Fried or fast foods 

Fast food and fried dishes are heavy in sodium and fat and little in fibre. Constipation is more likely to occur and digestion may be slowed by these characteristics.
