Vegetables often carry pesticide residues that can affect health if not cleaned properly. Clean fresh veggies effectively with these simple methods, which will help reduce pesticide residues, making your food safer and healthier to eat.
Hold vegetables under running water for 2-3 minutes and gently scrub to remove dirt and some pesticides.
Soak vegetables in 1 tbsp salt and 1 litre of water for 10-15 minutes, then rinse to remove pesticides.
Remove pesticides by soaking vegetables in 1 tsp baking soda and 1 litre of water for 15-20 minutes, then rinse.
Prepare a solution of 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water, soak veggies for 10 minutes, and rinse thoroughly.
Peel thick-skinned veggies or blanch in boiling water for 1-2 minutes to reduce pesticide residues.
