Ingredients for TOMATO AND TAMARIND SOUP (RASAM) Recipe

  • 0.33 Tablespoon oil
  • 0.17 Teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1.33 Pieces cloves garlic minced
  • 0.17 Teaspoon cumin powder
  • 0.08 Teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 0.17 Teaspoon chilly powder
  • 0.17 Teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 0.33 Pieces onion chopped
  • 0.42 Cup tomatoes (finely cut)
  • 0.67 Cups water
  • 0.17 Tablespoon tamarind paste
  • To Taste salt
  • 0.17 Tsp red chilli flakes

Directions: Tomato And Tamarind Soup (rasam) Recipe

  • STEP 1.Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. Add mustard seeds and garlic. Sauté till garlic cooks.
  • STEP 2.Add onion and fry. Add cumin powder, turmeric powder, chilly powder, chilli flakes and pepper powder.
  • STEP 3.Stir and then add chopped tomatoes. Cover the pan and turn the heat to low till the tomato softens.
  • STEP 4.Add water into the tomatoes, mix and bring the heat to high. Once it boils turn the heat to low and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • STEP 5.Add tamarind paste and then add salt. Turn off the heat.
  • STEP 6.Serve with rice.
