How to Make Therali Appam Recipe

    Steps To Prepare

  • Wash and dry the rice properly before making a coarse powder out of it.
  • Cooking Directions

  • Heat a vessel on the stove. Grease the vessel with some ghee.
  • Mash the boiled plantains in the vessel.
  • Pour 1 tbsp ghee and ¾ cup of jaggery syrup.
  • Mix the ingredients with 2 cups of fried rice flour, 1 cup of grated coconut and a little cardamom powder.
  • Turn off the flame.
  • Mix the ingredients with your hand. Knead to form a dough.
  • Take out the bay leaves. Wash them with water.
  • Fold the bay leaves in the form of a cone. Stuff the dough inside the cone and cover it by inserting the extending stems to the interior.
  • In a double steamer, pour 1 cup of water in the bottom vessel. Place the leaf stuffed doughs on the top vessel and steam for 10 minutes.
  • Hot and sweet therali appam is ready.

  • You can also use a toothpick for covering the leaf after stuffing.
