Ingredients for Sambar rice Recipe

  • 0.33 Cup Toor dal
  • 1/2 Cups Rice
  • 0.33 Tsp Hing
  • 0.33 Pieces Brinjal
  • 0.67 Pieces Carrot
  • 0.17 Pieces Cucumber
  • 0.33 Pieces Raw banana
  • 1.67 Pieces Cluster beans
  • 1 Pieces reen chillies
  • 0.33 Cup Shallots
  • 0.33 Pieces Tomato
  • Sprig Curry leaves
  • As Required For Ganishing Coriander leaves
  • 0.33 Tsp Turmeric powder
  • 0.67 Tsps Chilly powder
  • 1 Tsps Coriander powder
  • 0.67 Tsps Sambar powder
  • To Taste Tamarind paste
  • To Taste Salt
  • 0.67 Tsp Oil
  • 0.33 Tsp Mustard
  • 0.33 Tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 0.67 Pieces Dried red chilly
  • 0.33 Tsp Cumin seeds
  • 0.33 Pieces Potato
  • 1.67 Cups Water

Directions: Sambar Rice Recipe

  • STEP 1.In a pressure cooker, add washed rice, dal and all veggies. Add water and salt. Pressure cook for 3whistles. So that it should be mashed well. Usually for 1cup rice 2cups water. Here for 1cup 3cups water.
  • STEP 2.Once the pressure got down, open the lid and mix well.
  • STEP 3.In a pan temper with oil, mustard, chilly, Fenugreek seeds, jeera, curry leaves and add tamarind water. Add turmeric, chilly powder, coriander powder, sambar powder and boil well till raw smell goes off.
  • STEP 4.Add this masala to the rice and mix well. It should be little loosu texture. Once it cools down it becomes thick.
  • STEP 5.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with any pickles or raita.
  • STEP 6.You can temper with vadagam also and can add to the rice.
