Instant 3-Braided Challah Buns/Breads Recipe

Recipe By Anamika Banerjee

#Bread 🍞 The very term CHALLAH is more widely applied to any kinds of BREADS used in the Jewish Rituals… Wherein, on the eves of the SHABBAT- Two Loaves are placed on the table to refer to the Jewish preaching: That, a double portion of MANNA fell from the Heaven on a Friday to last through to the Saturday- Shabbat! Absolutely a decadent one. A must try…👍🏻

Ingredients for Instant 3-Braided Challah Buns/Breads Recipe

  • 83.33 gms All-purpose flour/Maida
  • 0.17 tsp Salt
  • 33.33 Litre water
  • 1/4 tsps Instant dry yeast
  • 0.42 tbsps Honey/Castor Sugar
  • 0.33 tbsps EVOO or Cooking/Veg Oil- (Any)
  • 0.33 g Eggs: Bi
  • As Required preferably
  • 0.17 g Egg: For the Egg Wash
  • 1/50 cup Cup Maida/All-purpose flour: For Dusting While Kneadin
  • As Required Garnish: Black & White Sesame Seeds- Optional
  • 0.17 tbsp Nigella Seeds: Instead of the Black Sesame Seeds
  • 1/25 cup Cup Butter: Melted- For the Post-Baking Wash/Coatin
  • 0.17 g 1-2 Baking

Directions: Instant 3-braided Challah Buns/breads Recipe

  • STEP 1.Oven Preheated: @170C for about 10-15 mins time
    step-image
  • STEP 2.First up: In a large mixing bowl: Add in all the aforementioned ingredients and mix everything well together until nicely combined and well blended, except the egg wash and the sesame seeds (those are to be used at the latter stage
    step-image
  • STEP 3.Before, mixing everything together- well whisk the eggs in order to incorporate sufficient air into it & then pour it into the mixing bowl and mix everything well together again to be well blended & incorporated
    step-image
  • STEP 4.If using the Stand Mixer: Refer to the pics given down below mix everything well together until nicely combined and well blended for at least 10-12 mins time by attaching its Dough Hook 🪝
    step-image
  • STEP 5.If kneading with hands it’d take even longer time- Say about long 20-30 mins of continuous kneading without any stop at all, in between (VVI) & be prepared for enough Hand Exercises and could be a bit of muscle pain too but trust me, seeing the outcome- you’d forget everything & that’s my guarantee
    step-image
  • STEP 6.Now, the kneading is completed and the dough is absolutely smooth and supple and to denote the same- Press with the tip of your fingers into it & it should bounce back immediately, which indicates it’s been well kneaded & it should now be covered with a towel/cling film wrap or both and left for its 1st proofing in a warm place (kitchen itself), for at least 90-120 mins time
    step-image
  • STEP 7.Then take it out of the mixing bowl, post the 1st proofing: Knead it on the work platform again for a couple of mins time & then, Cut it into 2 equal halves & further cut each halves into 3 equal portions & we get altogether 6 equal portions- Again, put it back for another short proofing for about 15-20 mins time before further dividing it up
    step-image
  • STEP 8.(In my pics herein, the quantity shown is a little more according to my Orders, however with the given measurements you’d get just 6 equal portions to braid them into 2 similar sized loaves or 6 similar single shaped round braided challahs)…
    step-image
  • STEP 9.Now, while working on one Braided Bun- Cover back the other one for a brief proofing in the meanwhile….
    step-image
  • STEP 10.Prepare the egg wash in the interim & keep the sesame seeds handy & readily available to you for its finishing touches
    step-image
  • STEP 11.Once one Braided Bun is prepared: Give it one coat of the egg wash & let it sit on its last proofing for about 45-60 mins time to rise up well, post the given time- Give it its final coat of the egg-wash & sprinkle on its top the mixed Sesame Seeds & put it inside the preheated oven @170C for about 20-30 mins time (Varies with different oven settings)
    step-image
  • STEP 12.That’s how it should look- Post Baking…Immediately, transfer it to the cooling rack from the hot tray in order to stop its further cooking & give it an immediate butter-wash, to keep it soft and spongy inside & crispy outside
    step-image
  • STEP 13.Once it’s a bit cooled down: Transfer it to a separate plate/dish or directly to the serving platters and RELISH THIS DELISH without any further ado
    step-image
  • STEP 14.Enjoy your Meal with immensely flavourful and delectable…Gorgeous looking Challahs & share the recipe with your family and friends...💁‍♀️👍
