They always say, “Eat your greens”. And that we took it quite seriously. During my good old school days, my mother used to make these sandwiches, where toasted slices were layered with crunchy lettuce and tomatoes and a little bit of salt and pepper. Till date, whenever I feel like having a light and healthy breakfast, they are my go-to sandwiches. I like to call them, “Garden Fresh Sandwiches” since they are so colourful and right from the lap of nature.

Apart from being a delicious layer for sandwiches, lettuce is a great source of Vitamin K which means your bones will be strong and it keeps you hydrated too since it is made up of 80% water. If that is not enough to convince you, we’ve found these interesting lettuce recipes that are definitely not a salad.

Move over your boring salad plate, try these lettuce wrap recipes because we know you’ll love them.

1. Chicken Lettuce Wraps

A healthy take on your regular chicken sandwich. Replace the tortilla with lettuce as the wrap base and stuff it ground chicken, mixed in a host of sauces like soy sauce, sriracha, rice vinegar with your choice of veggies. Finely chopped veggies work well.

2. Korean Beef Lettuce Wraps

Huge K-Pop fan? Damn sure, you’ve wanted to try everything Korean then. This flavourful beef is made with Korean barbeque spices and wrapped in a layer of freshly plucked lettuce sheet.

3. Thai Lettuce Wraps

Dig into these Thai wraps with lots of sautéed meat and chilies. Sprinkle some pickles on top for that sweet and sour flavour.

4. Jamaican Jerk Chicken Lettuce Wraps

For the uninitiated, Jamaican Jerk Chicken is one hell of a spicy dish. Be ready to handle the heat and the taste because you wouldn’t be able to stop at one.

5. Asian Grilled Salmon Pineapple And Rice Lettuce Wraps

Grilled salmon is a great dinner meal. To take it a notch higher, we’ve tossed the pineapple in the grill too and mixed it with some brown rice. Stuff this mixture of rice, pineapple and salmon in a lettuce cup and wrap it up.

I think we are good to go, lettuce wrap up now!
