Do you constantly try to reinvent in order to come up with creative recipes? Then you may have seen that sweet potato is used in myriad ways, thus making it even more popular than regular potato. Of course, no surprise there, since sweet potatoes have this addictive flavour which people want to utilise. But we'd have never thought that fries would also get their own makeover, and that sweet potato would be used instead of regular potato. What's so delicious about these sweet potato fries is that they don’t mask their sweetness. In fact, combined with salt, these sweet potato fries are a total banger. 

While we love the over-seasoned fries made with potatoes, we cannot contain our excitement when eating sweet potato fries. After hearing so much about sweet potato fries, I just had to taste these fries once. But I didn’t think that they’d be my favourite for a long time to come. I speak for myself here: I love the fact that these fries don’t taste anything like regular fries. I wasn't very big on fries anyway. I didn’t even think that fries have to complement burgers all the time. But I have to admit that it is a delicious idea to have a contrasting pairing such as a savoury, tangy or spicy burger patty and sweet potato fries. A lot of people also toss these sweet potato fries with fruits such as apples and pears and believe us, that’s a heavenly combination too. Do you want to make sweet potato fries at home? 

In this recipe, we are not going to fry these sweet potato fries. Instead, we’ll bake them. Most people love to go for baked foods anyway. So we thought we should stick to the times and give people what they want. Besides, baking ensures that these sweet potatoes are a low-calorie snack or accompaniment to your meal. INGREDIENTS

- 3 sweet potatoes, sliced

- 3 tablespoons olive oil

- A pinch of salt

- ¼ tablespoon pepper

- ¼ tablespoon rosemary

- ¼ tablespoon oregano

- 1 tablespoon cilantro

METHOD

- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.

- On a chopping board, slice the sweet potatoes lengthwise. No need to peel the skin off.

- In a bowl, toss the sweet potatoes with olive oil.

- Mix them properly so that the olive oil coats the slices properly.

- Add salt and pepper.

- Transfer the sweet potato slices into a baking tray.

- Spread them out on the tray.

- Optional: Drizzle some extra olive oil.

- Bake at 180 degrees celsius for 30-40 minutes

- Once the slices turn golden brown, turn off the oven.

- Sprinkle cilantro, rosemary and oregano.

- Serve.
