Wondering how to make your picnic food menu sweeter? Or confused between complicated dessert recipes? Here's a simple classic dessert that is sure to make you grin. Apple Cinnamon cake not only sounds ideal for the weather, but the subtle flavour of juicy apples and the hot, pronounced tone of cinnamon in this cake makes it all things irresistible.

If you're adding walnuts or some other nuts, then that would be the best idea ever. As the extra crunch would improve the overall texture of the already flavourful cake. You can be as creative as you want to be with this dessert. Go creative and put extra apples (thinly sliced) for decoration before keeping it in the oven. The apples inside the cake would be of different flavour as from the slices on top, making this cake truly droolworthy.  If you don't like extra jazz, then sprinkling mixed powder of sugar and cinnamon will be simply delicious too. Let's see its basic recipe, here's how you can make the cake.

Flour- 1 1/4 cup

Peeled and chopped apples- 2, medium size

Eggs- 2

Butter- 1/2 cup

Sugar- 1/2 cup

Brown sugar- 1/2 cup

Vanilla extract- 1/4 tsp

Cinnamon powder- 1 tsp

Baking soda- 1 tsp

Salt- 1/4 tsp

Chopped walnuts- 1/2 cup

1. Start by heating your oven to 350°F.  Use a cooking spray for an 8 inches deep pan.

2. Take a big bowl and mix the butter and sugar using an electric mixer. Now add the eggs. Put flour, vanilla, baking soda,  cinnamon and salt. Now add chopped apples (don't keep the pieces too large) and some walnuts. Place the batter carefully in the greased pan.

3. Now bake for 40 minutes. Check it by inserting a toothpick in the centre of the cake. If the toothpick is clean when you pull it then you're good to go. Cool the cake for around 15 minutes. Cut it into slices and serve.
