When life hits you with a sudden bit of gloominess, the only way to let go of it and find relief is by sipping on a cocktail. Sidecar is one of many popular brandy cocktails that is a must for you to include in your life. It is easily blended by pouring liqueurs like cognac, an orange liqueur with a slight dash of lemon juice poured at the end in a cocktail shaker. This cocktail gives out a delightful orange colour that appears due to the orange liquor that’s poured over into the glass. Some of the most common orange liqueurs used are Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Dry Curacao and Triple sec. When we start with talking about the history, sadly the place of origin has been a bit unclear ever since it was invented but is said to have been invented during the end of world war one probably in either Paris or London. Since it was used to be an army captain that served in the war, it was then named after the motorcycle sidecar used by him.

Sidecar tastes too sour and dry, so it is almost like a challenge for bartenders to balance the right amount of flavours and ingredients. But, worry not; find the simplest recipe of making a sidecar given below.

  • 40ml cognac
  • 30ml orange liquor ( triple sec)
  • 10 ml lime juice
  • Orange wedge ( for garnishing)

Steps in the making-

  • Take a cocktail shaker and start adding all the ingredients in the same order as we have listed for you above.
  • Shake and let the ingredients mix well.
  • Single strain into a coupe glass and straight-up without any ice cubes.
  • In the end, make sure to beautifully garnish your drink by topping it off with an orange wedge.
  • Sidecar is perfect for enjoying at any time of the day, so wait no more and get ready to make this at home. Enjoy!
