Tokyo Olympics wrapped up on August 8 with a grand closing ceremony, and as soon as the Indian contingent landed back in India, they were welcomed with a bang. They are being celebrated everywhere, right from their respective home states to the national level, they were even invited to the Red Fort for the Independence Day celebrations. Post which, they were hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself on Monday at his residence. And this is where, he fulfilled his promise to ace badminton player P.V. Sindhu as well.

Remember we told you how back in July when the PM had a video interaction with Sindhu, they spoke about how she had many diet restrictions while preparing for Olympics, including being barred from having ice cream?

Prime Minister Modi had tweeted about the same and wrote "Being an athlete requires a rigorous schedule and hardwork. I asked @Pvsindhu1 about her love for ice-cream and also interacted with her parents,".

During the interaction, Sindhu said, "Since I am preparing for the Olympics, I have to do some sort of diet control. So I don't eat ice cream so much, only once in a while." Upon hearing this, PM Modi promised that he would have ice cream with her after the competition concluded.

PV Sindhu won a bronze medal at Olympics, post which her father too told ANI that she may eat ice cream with PM. Seems like it turned true today when the Indian Tokyo Olympics contingent went to 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the official residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have breakfast with him.

As per an ANI report, PV Sindhu along with Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, India's first-ever Gold Medallist in track and field and the Indian Men's hockey team were also present at the event. The official handle of Mann Ki Baat by PM Modi shared pictures from the event. “@Pvsindhu1 with the promised ice cream by PM Shri Narendra Modi!” said the caption.

And that was not all, our golden boy Neeraj Chopra too was treated with a special Rajasthani treat- churma. Take a look:

“Bonding over churma! PM Shri Narendra Modi and @Neeraj_chopra1 share a lighter moment.” said the caption.  Seems like the athletes are enjoying all that they missed during their rigorous preps for the Olympics.

India recorded its best-ever medal haul at the recently concluded Olympics by bagging a total of seven medals - one Gold, two silver, and four bronze. It has definitely been one of the proudest moments for the country.
