We can’t imagine a party without kebabs serving as starters. They are crispy, succulent and wholesome in taste that is a crowd-pleaser. But whether it be an occasion or a casual day, we never deny a plate full of them because kebabs are an absolute delight that doesn’t require one to sit back and find a special day to relish them. So this time, we would love for you to try out guiyan kebabs. Guiyan or arbi, also known as colocasia in English, is a vegetable widely used in Indian cooking because of its desirable taste and the fact that it’s hearty and packed with essential health benefits. So now, let’s begin with the steps to follow while making these guiyan/ arbi kebabs.

  • Half kg guiyan
  • 1 onion
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic
  • Green chillies
  • Coriander leaves
  • Red chilli powder
  • Salt as per taste
  • Dried mango powder
  • 2-3 tablespoon besan
  • 1 tablespoon rice four
  • Oil for frying

Method for preparation-

  • Take colocasia and get them ready for boiling. Boil for some time but make sure not to over boil.
  • After this, peel off their skin and mash them gently. Take a big bowl and transfer the mashed colocasia into it and start adding all the masalas. Do add all the ingredients into the bowl one by one, including besan and rice flour.
  • Stir the mixture and make a soft yet firm dough, then start making rolls or round-shaped kebabs out of the same. Grease your hands first, as the mix might be sticky.
  • Now heat a pan with oil and start frying the kebabs. Shallow fry on low-medium until it turns golden and crispy from both sides.
  • There you are! Your Guiyan kebabs are ready to serve!
  • Transfer on a plate covered with a tissue to soak the excess oil and serve hot.

Kebabs undoubtedly taste best when paired with green chutney.
