It doesn’t always have to be a thick pizza slice, oozing with cheese (though the thought of it made us drool rightaway). You can always make a healthier version of your regular pizza. And this is possible even when you are ordering from outside.  

We’ll give you 5 simple ways in which you can enjoy your pizza night without counting calories. And no, we don’t mean that you should skip eating it altogether.  

1. Tweak the crust  

Instead of thick, fat crust, opt for a thin-crust pizza. A thin crust slice will cut down on your bread consumption, which means less sodium and carbs intake. Also, this will automatically place more emphasis on the veggies which are definitely a healthier option.  

2. Tweak the dough  

To take your thin-crust a notch higher, you can actually use a whole-wheat dough for the pizza base. This will be an addition to your fiber and protein consumption. There are also certain plant-based doughs that have come up. So you could knead to make a vegetable crust using cauliflower, broccoli and other certain others.  

3. Tweak the cheese  

A pizza with no cheese is a pizza wasted. And we don’t disagree. So why don’t we use some less fatty cheese varieties like skim-mozzarella or ricotta. Even low-fat parmesan can do the job. This will ensure that you are devoid of those extra calories and not cheese.  

4. Tweak the toppings

The real nutritional value of a pizza can be measured by its toppings. Make good choices and add loads of vegetables like mushrooms, broccoli, onions, tomatoes, fresh herbs etc. Not a dull day for meat lovers because you can still enjoy your meaty pizzas by replacing high-fat pepperonis with salami, chicken sausages and other leaner meats. You can also grill the meats to avoid extra fried oil.  

5. Tweak the sauce  

The bottled pizza sauces are filled with preservatives, so why take those unnecessary calories? Make a fresh and simple pizza sauce at home with tomatoes, garlic, onions and some peppers.  

And of course, this goes without saying, control your portions. You can also prep a side salad with a nice and creamy dip to prevent bingeing on that box of pizza unconditionally.
