As kids, we have all grown up drinking cow milk or buffalo milk. Some must have had goat milk too. No matter what the source was, we’ve always dreaded that glass of milk that would wait for us every morning at the breakfast table. After a lot of fuss and tantrums, we would eventually gulp it down so that we could go and play (or at least I did). Looking back, it seems those were simpler times. 

Now, with several allergies and other health-related preferences, the sources of milk have also broadened. For vegans, we’ve got soy milk, avocado milk, almond milk etc. Did you know there are people who consume camel milk as well? Quite common in the desert areas of the Middle-east, nomads and travelers have been drinking camel milk for years because it is easily accessible and extremely nutritious. 

Camel milk has been underrated or often, neglected in the dairy industry but is gaining popularity now. 

1. Boosts growth and development 

Unlike cow milk, camel milk has abundance of protein. So its great for boosting growth and development, especially in children. 

2. Possible to aid neuro-problems

Those having neuro-degenerative disorders like autism have been found to benefit from camel milk as it helps in reducing the symptoms and behaviours associated with it. Though this is not a full-proof solution, it can aid in improving such medical conditions. 

3. Good alternative for lactose-intolerance and allergies 

Several people avoid milk and milk-based products because they are lactose-intolerant. This may cause a deficiency of certain nutrients in them. Camel milk is a good alternative as it is suitable for such allergies as well as treats diarrhea. 

4. Can treat diabetes 

With less fat and apt levels of insulin, camel milk is not only a good means to balance, but can also treat diabetic patients. 

The downside is that this milk is pretty expensive and not easily available everywhere.
